Making positive changes in your life can be hard. Actually, it is hard! Its hard to change, to break poor habits and to commit. But you have made the decision to, so lets give it a good go. Here are some tips to start with that I find useful. What are yours?
Schedule your training in your diary as a Meeting. Some people may not understand yet how important training is. Saying you are going to a meeting, may be more 'acceptable'. When someone wants to meet you for breakfast, suggest a walk instead. We have amazing costal walks here! The aim is to break food being the centre of your social plans.
Get your clothes ready and pack your bag he night before. Don't use 'I cant find my socks as an excuse not to train.
As soon as my kids finish eating, I clear their plates so I don't eat off them. I'm even guilty of tipping water on their food. Just one chip can start the downslide. "I have snacks for my kids". OK, this is a big one... Why would you give your children something that you know you shouldn't eat yourself! (If you are saying "But" right now, we need to talk!)
Do not carry spare change. That way you can not buy that chocolate bar, soft drink or other item that triggers you.
Be the person that carry's water everywhere. Are you hungry, thirsty or bored.
Write a grocery list and promise yourself you will stick to it. Even though Maltesers are on sale! Shop on line if you have to!
Celebrate your achievements. But not with food! Get that massage, go to the movies, buy those shoes, plan that date/outing.
Be kind to yourself. If you get a flat tyre, you don't put holes in the other 3! If you miss a session or a meal, look at why and make plans so it doesn't happen again.
